To allow the pressure from grade withholding to build, your Contract Committee canceled June’s bargaining dates with the Employer. Your Contract Committee has since been focusing on preparations for previously scheduled July sessions with the Employer (8th and 22nd), where we look forward to seeing the effect of our members’ action.
At these sessions, we hope to hear responses to our core issues, and we expect counter-proposals. As we saw in 2012, a fair collective agreement can be achieved in 48 hours when the employer is convinced they need to address our issues.
Our Committee is still seeking additional bargaining dates in July, and has advised the Employer that we are available three full weeks in July, including weekends and on Canada Day, in order to conclude a Collective Agreement. We await their response.
