TSSU takes strong strike mandate to the bargaining table

During our strike vote, our members gave the TSSU’s Contract Committee a strong mandate to take back to the bargaining table. We return to scheduled bargaining on April 16th with SFU’s Administration. Before we can take any job action, the TSSU will give 72 hours notice to SFU, but we have not given that notice yet.

At a Special General Membership meeting on Friday, March 26th, the membership formed a Strike Committee. That committee’s meetings are open to all members, and decisions about serving the 72-hour notice and possible job actions are made at the Strike Committee meetings. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 9th, in AQ 5135 at 5:30pm. All TSSU members are encouraged to attend.

That bargaining day will show how seriously the Employer’s bargaining team takes our mandate. Our Contract Committee has requested that all members consider attending this meeting as advisers, as a large turnout will demonstrate our collective strength. Any member can come–we just need 24 hours notice–so please email kdean@tssu.ca by April 15th if you would like to be an adviser so that we can give you further details.

This website has a large amount of information about TSSU’s bargaining proposals and how TSSU seeks to improve the working and learning environment at SFU. If you need any further clarifications, please contact tssu@tssu.ca, give us a call (778.782.4735), or come by the office at AQ 5129 on Burnaby Campus.
