How to Respect a Picket Line as a Member:

    1. If you choose not to cross a picket line, you must inform your department promptly.
    2. You are not required to inform anyone of your intentions in advance of encountering a picket line; however, we encourage you to maintain open communications with your students and supportive faculty.
    3. Any contractual responsibilities that must be performed on in the location being picketed (e.g. Office hours, tutorial, marking, meeting with students) would be considered crossing a picket line and should be rescheduled.
    4. If you choose to respect a picket-line the university may opt to withhold up to one-tenth (1/10) of your bi-weekly, non-scholarship pay (i.e. One-tenth of the portion of your bi-weekly pay that does not include your scholarship portion) for each instructional day missed.
    5. For details about picket pay, please see the picket pay FAQ and the TSSU Strike Policy located in the TSSU bylaws.
    6. For urgent picket related matters, please contact the TSSU help line at 778-316-8146.
